#CCIElections2018 post factum

I wanted to share with everyone, the email I had sent out on 24th September to all the candidates at #CCIElections2018
It may be fruit for thought ...
Dear Fellow Members & Candidates @ #CCIElections2018

At the outset I wish you all the very best. I trust that some of you will win and the others won't win. But none of you will loose. This will happen if successful candidates ensure a victory for our club's members, always.

Members get huge amounts of attention from candidates preceding elections. Thereafter, normalcy is returned to. Canvassing is tiring for candidates and members too are fatigued by annual elections.

But lets make it all worthwhile. To only enhance friendship and understanding between members, good Governance with Transparency in managing our club, and constantly developing member services, as we increase member facilities and infrastructure. A well made CCI and a well served membership, must go together.

Please refrain from making political footballs of things like the Cornerstone Report, Procurement Management, Systems and Processes and so on. There will need to be a genuine collective desire to address these things by members who have an interest in and aptitude for the stated subjects. These things are a matter of well strategised and planned implementation, and not a part of the routine day to day fire fighting methods. A proper vehicle will need to be put in place to drive these initiatives forward and they cannot be driven forward if there is a disconnect in the functional areas and there are information silos.

Future generations may not be as enthusiastic as we are in managing the affairs of our club. So its best that proper professional platforms are laid down by us so that in future, excessive member intervention may not be necessary to run our club.

In a spirit of love, not war,
I remain, as humble and articulate a members voice, as possible

Rajiv Bhatia
